Tobin Lavalley

Producer|Web Design|Data Journalist

ABOUT

Houston-born and raised, Tobin Lavalley is a senior at Texas State University with a passion for writing and storytelling. Working for Bobcat Update under Dr. Tim England was instrumental in creating Tobin's highly critical process of gathering, writing and editing news stories for broadcast television. With Dr. Kaufhold's close guidance, Tobin was able to explore and hone in on the necessity of visuals in broadcast storytelling. Under Stanford Knight Journalism Fellow, Cindy Royal's close eye Tobin was forced into a mindset of meticulosity when it came to coding. During his time at Texas State, Tobin worked closely with two-time Emmy winner, Professor Dale Blasingame, running the Equipment Room for the Journalism Department. In addition, Tobin has been a frequent contributor in the Texas State Broadcasting Society under Dr. Ray Niekamp.

If it were not for the incredible fortune of mentors like these, I would not be suited for a career in Journalism.

The program allows students to showcase the skills they have acquired in all roles relating to storytelling. This video is a sample of works produced by myself during the Spring 2015 semester.
